Membership selection for Phi Kappa
Phi is conducted annually in the Spring semester.
Student Eligibility
Juniors at Truman State University are eligible for membership if they
have completed at least 24 hours in residence at Truman by the end of
the Fall semester preceding initiation, have completed at least 72 hours
of credit in a course of study leading to a baccalaureate degree, and rank in the upper
7.5% percent of the junior class. To be eligible for the Spring
2007 initiation class, juniors needed a cumulative gpa of 3.92 or
higher.
Seniors at Truman State University are eligible for membership if they
have completed at least 24 hours in residence at Truman by the end of
the Fall semester preceding initiation, have completed at least 90 hours
of credit in a course of study leading to a baccalaureate degree, and rank in the upper
10% percent of the senior class. To be eligible for the Spring 2007
initiation class, seniors needed a cumulative gpa of 3.89 or
higher.
Faculty/Staff Eligibility
Each year, members of the Truman State University chapter may select up
to four members of Truman's faculty and staff for induction.
Nominations are solicited from members each spring.
Members of the faculty and staff whose scholastic records and outstanding achievement have rendered them worthy of
membership are eligible for nomination. In addition, members of the faculty or staff who do not hold a collegiate degree, but who have distinguished themselves professionally,
may be selected provided that prior approval for their initiation is obtained from the National Board of Directors.
Alumni Eligibility
Alumni of the University from a class of five or more years' standing selected on the basis of outstanding achievement since graduation and a high scholastic record while attending the University.
