Scholarships Offered through Truman's Phi Kappa Phi Chapter

Magee / Korslund / Phi Kappa Phi Junior Scholarship 

Every spring, our chapter recognizes juniors or returning seniors for their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements by awarding scholarships to be applied to enrollment fees for the following year. 

From 1997-2005, the society awarded two $250 scholarships annually.  Beginning in 2006, the society awarded one $500 scholarship.

Eligibility for this award requires membership in Phi Kappa Phi, a personal commitment to academic excellence, and at least two semesters of study at Truman remaining.  Application procedures are distributed to eligible candidates each Spring.

Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship Program 


The Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship Program, a program which recognizes and encourages superior scholarship in all disciplines, makes awards for full-time, first-year graduate or professional study. Each year, 50 highly qualified individuals from across the nation are granted Phi Kappa Phi fellowships and another 30 received Awards of Excellence. Full fellowship stipends are $5,000. Awards of Excellence are currently $2,000.  To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be nominated by their Phi Kappa Phi Chapter.  

Applications require application form, three letters of recommendation, and an original essay.  Applications are due each year early in the Spring semester.  Contact a chapter officer for more information.

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant

The Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant Program is designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad.  Each year, 50 $1,000 grants are awarded nationally. 

Applications require application form and supporting materials.  Applications are due each year early in the Spring semester.  Contact a chapter officer for more information.

Phi Kappa Phi Emerging Scholar Award

The Phi Kappa Phi Emerging Scholar Award recognizes outstanding rising sophomores studying at Phi Kappa Phi member institutions.  Up to 60 $250 grants will be awarded nationally each year.  Applications are due by June 30. 


Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award


The Phi Kappa Phi Life Love of Learning Award helps fund post-baccalaureate studies and/or career development for active Phi Kappa Phi members, to include (but not be limited to): graduate or professionals studies, doctoral dissertations, continuing education, career development, travel related to teaching/studies, etc.  Fifty awards, of up to $500 each, will be awarded each year.  Applications are due by June 30.


Phi Kappa Phi Literacy Grants

The Phi Kappa Phi Life Literacy Grants program champions literacy initiatives by funding grants up to $2,500 to Phi Kappa Phi chapters and individual members to fund ongoing literacy projects or to create new initiatives.  The Communication Disorders department received Truman's first PKP Literacy Grant in 2007 for their proposal, "Project Read to Me."
